Funeral services for Emory Carroll “Red” Stone, age 77, were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2000, in the First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Truman Ledbetter, Pastor, and Rev. Dale Moreland, Associate Minister of the San Jacinto Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial was held in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Lakeview under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mr. Stone died Monday, November 6, 2000, in Amarillo. He was born November 25, 1922, in Hedley and was a resident of Lakeview before moving to Amarillo five years ago. He married Sally Fowler Gibson on August 15, 1986, at Canyon. He was a farmer and auto parts storeowner for 45 years before his retirement. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the San Jacinto Baptist Church in Amarillo.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Stone of Amarillo; two daughters, Karen Bates of Moody and Kathy Saver of Dalhart; one step-daughter, Cathy Adkins of Canyon; one step-son, Dana Gibson of Valley Mills; two sisters, Pauline Koontz of Clarendon and Lois Lair of Hedley; one brother, James Stone of Arlington; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and eight step great grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Barry Stone, Adrian Youngblood, Frank Basler, Terry Watson, Dusty Byars, and Johnny Prestridge. Honorary bearers were T.D. Austin, Pete Lawler, Bill Brown, Marshall Fitzwater, Keith Bain, J.M. Dickson, and Bernie Smith.
The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Olivia’s Angels at BSA Hospice in Amarillo or to the Lakeview Cemetery Association.
