Mary Mahdene “Dee” Williams, 82, died Thursday, November 23, 2000.
Graveside services for the family were held Saturday, November 25, 2000, in Abilene Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Howard Johnson, Methodist minister and cousin of Mrs. Williams officiating. Memorial services were held Sunday, November 26, 2000, in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Edwards officiating. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Williams was born in Ladonia, Texas, and raised in Abilene, Texas. She married C.S. “Bill” Williams in 1940. They lived in San Francisco, and Mrs. Williams was a certified welder in the shipyards during the war. They resided briefly in Memphis before moving to Clarendon in 1949. She was an organist and pianist for the First United Methodist Church, the First Baptist Church, and the First United Presbyterian Church before retiring.
She retired from Pantex in 1986. She was Clarendon Lions Club Sweetheart off and on for 37 years and an honorary Shriner after 20 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Stewart of Galveston, and Cyndy Reynolds of Dimmitt; two grandchildren, Cherie D. Floyd of Clarendon, and Christopher Reynolds of Dimmitt, and three great-grandchildren, Crystal, James, and Charlie all of Clarendon.
The family suggests memorials be to Harrington Cancer Center or Circle of Friends.
