Orvis Odis Crocker died Monday, December 18, 2000, at Howardwick. He was 88.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, in the Clarendon Church of Christ with Brian Gochenour, minister, and Greg Bell, associate minister, officiating. Burial was in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the arrangements of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc.
Mr. Crocker was born April 12, 1912, in Troupe, Texas, and was a resident of Amarillo for 15 years before moving to Howardwick in 1976. He married Rachel Bernice Brooks on January 23, 1938, at Shamrock. He was an aircraft mechanic employed by the federal government for much of his life before retiring in 1968.
He was a member of the Clarendon Church of Christ.
Mr. Crocker was preceded in death by a daughter, Orvis Jean “Jeannie” Cates, on June 20, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Crocker of Howardwick; four daughters, Dorthy Conser of Ormand, Florida, Emma Reed of Amarillo, Rachel Mannering of Edgewood, Texas, Linda Mason of Ft. Worth; one brother, Ernest Crocker of Pampa; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Casket bearers were grandsons of Mr. Crocker.
