Funeral services for Lee Reeves, age 92, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Rev. Jim Hancock officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Arrangements were under the direction of Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon.
Mrs. Reeves died March 1, 2001, at Horseshoe Bay, Texas. She was born on August 23, 1908, at Lelia Lake, Texas, to Ernest and Maggie Reeves Lewis. She married E. R. Rex Reeves on May 22, 1930. She graduated with a BA from Texas Tech University and received a MA from West Texas State University. She taught school for thirty-five years, the last eighteen of which were at Rex Reeves Elementary School in Canyon. She was also a realtor in Canyon for many years and was active in the First Baptist Church. She served as president of the following organizations: Canyon/Randall Chapter of the American Heart Association, Canyon Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Sue Hite Club, Chi Omega Alumnae, Canyon Classroom Teachers Association, and Canyon Retired Teachers Association. She was also a Personal Advisor for the Upsilon Zeta Chapter of Chi Omega for twenty years.
Mrs. Reeves was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Reeves, in 1961.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Reggie and Judy Reeves of Horseshoe Bay; two sisters, Alta Lane of Canyon and Louise Howard of Anton, Texas; one grandson, Korbin Reeves of Austin; one granddaughter, Kenda Reeves Canuteson of Marble Falls, Texas; and three great grandchildren.
