Graveside services for Bessie E. Knox Reynolds, age 96, were held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2002, in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Rev. Darrel Burton, Pastor of Martin Baptist Church in Clarendon, and Rev. Terri Lynn Byrd, granddaughter from Alvarado, officiating. Burial was held at Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Reynolds died Wednesday, February 6, 2002, in Amarillo. She was born February 18, 1905, in Hardeman County, Texas, and lived in Clovis, NM, before moving to Amarillo in 1955. She married J.P. Reynolds on March 25, 1925, at Lelia Lake. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1954. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Wiley Reynolds of Lelia Lake; one daughter, Charlsie Byrd of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Terri Lynn Byrd of Alvarado and Preston Byrd of Cleburne; and two great grandchildren, Amber Byrd and David Byrd of Cleburne.
Honorary casket bearers were Wilburn Dodson, Johnny Floyd, Donnie Knox, Harold Moffitt, Frank Nebhut, and Preston Byrd.
The family requests that memorials be to Olivia’s Angels at BSA Hospice in Amarillo or to a favorite charity.
