Funeral services for Ella Thelma Behrens, age 87, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2002, in the First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor, officiating. Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Behrens died Sunday, February 10, 2002, in Amarillo. She was born July 2, 1914, in Franklin County, Texas. She was raised in Hedley and had been a resident of Clarendon most of her life. She had lived at the Hudson House in Claude for the past four years. She married George Truett Behrens on August 10, 1938, at Memphis. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1988. She was a retired rural mail carrier. She was a member of the Donley County Senior Citizens Association and of the First Baptist Church in Clarendon.
Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Marshall and husband Ron of Amarillo; one son, Jerry Behrens and wife Delores of Canyon; two grandchildren, Jara DuBose and husband Bill of Abernathy and Phil Behrens and wife Stephanie of Panhandle; three great grandchildren, Brock Behrens and Brylee Behrens both of Panhandle, and Kalli DuBose of Abernathy.
The family requests that memorials be to Citizens Cemetery Association, to Donley County Senior Citizens Association in Clarendon, or to BSA Hospice in Amarillo.
