Funeral services for Violet Ollie McNabb, age 81, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2002, in the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon with Rev. Bryan Knowles, Pastor, officiating. Burial was held at Rowe Cemetery in Hedley under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. McNabb died Thursday, March 21, 2002, in Claude. She was born September 28, 1920, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, and was a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, before moving to Amarillo 33 years ago. In her early adult life, she worked in the grocery store and was employed by F.W. Woolworth and Woolco, and later by Blue Morrow Meat Packing Company before retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Madge McNabb.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanie Simmons and husband Harper of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Peggy Collins of Amarillo; one son, Alfred McNabb of Canton; two brothers, Robert Banister and wife Betty of Cario, Georgia; and Kenneth Banister and wife Leota of Claude; two sisters, Betty Stone of Borger and Betty Lee and husband Loy of Bowie; a sister-in-law, Mary Banister of Clarendon; 13 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Justin Simmons, Patrick McNabb, Kelsey Banister, Rick Coleman, Ricky Coleman, and Ronnie McNabb.
