Allie Mae Butler

Funeral services for Allie Mae Butler, age 84, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2002, in the First Baptist Church of Claude with Rev. Delbert Serratt of Amarillo, and Rev. Gerald Aalbers, Pastor officiating.  Burial was held in Claude Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.

Mrs. Butler died Saturday, April 20, 2002, in Amarillo.  She was born January 2, 1918, in Daylight, Tennessee, and had been a resident of Armstrong County most of her life.  She married Glenn Chester Butler on July 4, 1936.  She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church where she formerly was a Sunday School teacher for several years.  She was a member of the Busy Bees Homemakers Club and was a recipient of their Homemaker of the Year award.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shana Butler, on January 31, 1974.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn C. Butler of Claude; one son and daughter-in-law, Chester and Shirley Butler of Claude; one brother, Jessie Cope of Fowler, Colorado; two grandchildren, Kyle Butler of Amarillo and Shelly Allen of Canyon; and two great grandchildren, Tiffany Allen and Tyler Allen, both of Canyon.

Casket bearers were David Butler, J.W. Butler, Wendell Sanders, Doug Cope, Nat McElroy, and Gerald Wood.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request memorials be made to the Claude Volunteer Fire Department or the Claude Emergency Medical Services.
