Graveside services for James Charles Jewett, age 76, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2002, in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Rev. Darrell Burton, Pastor of Martin Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mr. Jewett died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Amarillo. He was born September 28, 1925, in Davenport, Texas, to Charlie and Ollie Jewett. He retired from the City of Phoenix, Arizona, before moving to Clarendon in 1981. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Martin Baptist Church. He had many friends and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Kimberlie Ponder, and by his parents.
Survivors include two sons, Darrell Jewett of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Gary Jewett of Tucson, Arizona; one daughter, Della Ponder; two brothers, Wayne Jewett of Amarillo and Earl Jewett of Pampa; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
