Funeral services for Roland Quentin “Ronnie” Hill, age 62, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2002, in the First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Terry Tamplen, Pastor of the Kingswood United Methodist Church in Amarillo, and Rev. Bryan Knowles, Pastor of the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon, officiating. Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., in Clarendon.
Mr. Hill died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, in Amarillo. He was born August 12, 1939, in Lakeview, Hall County, and had been a resident of Clarendon most of his life. He married Barbara Sue Alexander on September 25, 1998, at Clarendon. He was employed by Hommel Mobil Company for several years and then had worked for Wallace Monument Company for the past 30 years. He was a former long time member of the Clarendon Jaycees and of the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarendon.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Cochran, on July 1, 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sue Hill of Clarendon; his parents, Nolen Hill of Clarendon and Leota and Ned Gibbs of Hereford; two daughters, Kristal Hooten of Carizozo, New Mexico, and Tina Hook of Amarillo; five sons, Kelly Hill of Clarendon, Kyle Hill of Clarendon; Russell Alexander of Roaring Springs, Casey Alexander of Amarillo; and Stacey Alexander of Amarillo; one step sister, Jeannie Owens of Clarendon; two step brothers, Leon Gibbs of Amarillo and Milton Gibbs of Lubbock; and eight grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Johnny Floyd, Eddie Baker, Earl Ford, Owen Johnson, Redell Johnston, John Magnum, Joe Mike Yankie, Jimmy Riley, and Claude DeBord. Honorary bearers were members of the Clarendon High School Class of 1957 and employees of Wallace Monument Company.
