James Dale Gouldy, age 86, of Amarillo died Sunday, March 31, 2002. Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors in Amarillo.
Mr. Gouldy was born August 22, 1915, in Wildorado. He graduated from West Texas Teachers College in 1941. During World War II, he served with the Army 12th Armored Division, as a medical corpsman in the European Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Star among other citations. He retired in 1971 after 30 years of service with the United State Department of Agriculture as supervisor with FMHA. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He and his wife were married 53 years.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; a stepson, Sam Jacobs and wife, Paula, of Amarillo; and a grandson, Bryan Dale.
Because of his desire to help those less fortunate, he requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be to Faith City Mission, 401 SE Second Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101; Salvation Army, 400 S. Harrison St., Amarillo, TX 79101; or a favorite charity.
