Graveside services for Mary Catherine Pafford, age 95, were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2002, in Claude Cemetery with Rev. Janet Edwards, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Claude, officiating. Burial was held in Claude Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., in Clarendon.
Mrs. Pafford died Sunday, September 8, 2002, in Claude. She was born October 18, 1906, in Martin, Tennessee, and came from Fulton, Kentucky, to Claude in 1908. She married Hermon Crystal Pafford on September 14, 1924, at Claude. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1975. She was a charter member of the Malden Harmony Club in Claude and a charter member of the Claude Alumni Association. She was a member of the Claude Business Women’s Club and joined the First United Methodist Church in 1920 where she was a member of the Phoebe K. Warner Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Louise Lockhart, on August 6, 1981.
Survivors include one daughter, Kay Ann Chester of Kingsland, Texas; one son, Joe Pafford of Mahomet, Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Lily B. Bagwell of Claude and Darlene Ledbetter of Vega; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Honorary casket bearers were Nace Baggerman, Bob Byrd, Ivan Chauveaux, John Chauveaux, Wilbur Cobb, Carl McElroy, and Wade Watson.
