Graveside services for Mary S. Hood, age 86, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in the Claude Cemetery with the Rev. Janet Edwards, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Claude, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Hood died Friday, February 28, 2003. She was born October 13, 1916, in Mesquite to Talmage and Jesse Venner Smith. She married Robert Lee Hood on June 17, 1940, in Bryson. She was a schoolteacher and librarian for Fort Worth ISD and a member of the Action United Methodist Church and sang with Granbury Melody Bells.
Survivors include her children, Tom Hood and wife Connie of Granbury, and Judy Cook and husband Tony of Eminence, MO; sisters, Talmage Hawthorne of Acton and Mildred Hickman of Dickenson; grandchildren, Tamra and Adam Hood and Judd and Cody Cook; and two great grandchildren.
