Funeral services for Curtis Owen Johnson, age 64, were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2003, in the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon with Rev. James Ivey Edwards, Pastor, and Rev. Bill Hodges, Pastor of the Clarendon Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mr. Johnson died Thursday, October 23, 2003, in Amarillo. He was born on July 28, 1939, in Clarendon to Curtis A. “Penny” Johnson and Vera Oakley Johnson. He had been a lifetime resident of Clarendon. He married Frances Marie Wallace on June 27, 1964, at Clarendon. She preceded him in death on December 6, 1998. He was a partner in Wallace Monument Company for several years before his retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Amy Johnson of Denver, Colorado; one son, Mitch Johnson of Dallas; his mother, Vera Johnson of Clarendon; two sisters, Beth Johnston and Charlene Mays, both of Clarendon; one brother, Mike Johnson of Clarendon; and a granddaughter, Olivia Johnson.
Casket bearers were Earl Ford, Montye Smith, Darrell Leffew, Claude DeBord, Paul Bell, Gerald Mulanax, Jim Roberts, and Denzil Deger. Honorary bearers were the 27 Club and the Choir Boys.
The family suggests that memorials be to a favorite charity.
