Nona Mae Howell

Funeral services for Nona Mae Howell, age 85, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2003, in the First Baptist Church in Hedley with Rev. Bruce Howard, Pastor, officiating.  Burial was held in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.

Mrs. Howell died Monday, October 6, 2003, in Claude.  She was born July 23, 1918, in Knox City, Texas, and was a long-time resident of Hedley before moving to Amarillo several years ago.  She married R.J. Howell on September 3, 1938, at Hedley.  He preceded her in death on September 6, 1971.  She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Lee Harred and husband Bobby of Claude; two sons, Jimmie Don Howell and wife Joyce and Don Dewane Howell and wife Lajune of Amarillo; one sister, Othel Bolin of Hedley; five grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Ron Sauls, Doug Howell, Trent Riley, Gary Riley, Tony Winn, B.J. Harred, and Buddy Winn.
