Services for Billie Ruth Ashcraft, age 75, of Clarendon were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the Church of Christ in Memphis with Don Stone, officiating. Burial was held in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis.
Mrs. Ashcraft died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, in Memphis. She was born July 19, 1938, in Tampico, Texas, to the late Mr. James Jouett and Mrs. Viola Sullivan Jouett. She attended school in Estelline. She was a life long resident of Hall County. She then moved to Clarendon in 1991 from Memphis. She married Lee Eugene Jackson on January 16, 1945, in Memphis. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1990. She then married James Ashcraft on April 27, 1991, in Clarendon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, James Ashcraft, of Clarendon; two sons, Terry and wife Valorie Ashcraft and Teddy Ashcraft, both of Clarendon; one daughter, Billie Jean Murdock and husband Sonny of Memphis; one brother, James Jouett of Hobbs, New Mexico; four grandchildren: Alen Murdock of Memphis, Shane Ashcraft and Kasi Anderson – both of Amarillo, and Aaron Ashcraft of Kansas City, Missouri.
