Funeral services for Huey “Pete” Lowrie, age 69, of Plainview were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2003, at Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview, with Russell Harris and Johnny Peck officiating. Burial was held in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Wood-Dunning Funeral Home in Plainview.
Mr. Lowrie died Thursday, January 15, 2004, at 10:15 a.m. in Plainview. He was born in Wheeler, Texas, on January 14, 1935. He moved to Bovina with his parents, where he grew up and graduated from Bovina High School. He attended college in Portales, New Mexico, for two years before spending two years in the Army. He married Janet Sells on October 10, 1959, in Stockdale, Texas. He then moved to Hereford in 1960 and later to Plainview in 1982. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Garland Street Church of Christ. He had worked for Energas for 34 years and was District Superintendent of Construction and Maintenance when he retired in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Janet of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Russell Harkins of Easter Community, Sharon and Brent Self of Dimmitt; one brother, David Lowrie and wife Paula of Clarendon; six grandchildren, Ryan Harkins and Wife Krista, Derik and Wesley Harkins, Tanner Self, Shantell Self, and Tucker Self.
Memorials may be made to VisticeCare Hospice of Plainview or the American Cancer Society.
