Funeral services for Billy Jack Owens, age 78, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2004, in the Community Fellowship Church with Rev. Bryan Knowles, Pastor, and Rev. Bill Hodges, Pastor of the Clarendon Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial was held at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mr. Owens died Monday, October 18, 2004. He was born October 6, 1926, in Clarendon and had been a lifelong resident of Clarendon. He married Jacquetta Ray Briggs on August 26, 1952, at Clovis, New Mexico. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was involved with his father in the trucking business and later owned and operated the business for 59 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon.
Survivors include his wife, Jacquetta Ray Owens of Clarendon; two daughters, Cathie Ray Fichte of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Pamela Denise Bertrand of Clarendon; one son, Billy Michael Owens of Clarendon; four sisters, Peggy Harrell of Ballinger, Charlene Reynolds of Amarillo, Annell Stokes of Pampa, and Patricia McAnear of Clarendon; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
