Funeral services for Dorothy Fae Whitlock, age 85, of Amarillo, Texas, were held Thursday morning, December 16, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. in Trinity Baptist Church, Amarillo, with Dr. David Evans officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home. Mrs. Whitlock died Monday morning, December 13, 2004.
Mrs. Whitlock was born May 12, 1919, in Clarendon, Texas, to Oma Allen and Gaye Tyree Scoggins. She attended public schools in Clarendon and in later years attended Amarillo College. She married L.T. Whitlock on July 7, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was employed by Diamond Shamrock Petroleum Company of Amarillo for many years as an executive secretary until retirement.
Mrs. Whitlock was the last active charter member of Trinity Baptist Church of Amarillo, where she was church organist for a number of years as well as serving the church in many other capacities. She was active in several social and service clubs and volunteered at Amarillo Senior Citizens and nursing homes. She was a member of Clarendon Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, L.T. “Larry” Whitlock, Jr., and wife Nancy of Berlin, Maryland; a sister, Ruby Dell Estlack of Clarendon; three grandsons, Marcus Whitlock of Kansas City, Missouri; David Whitlock of Tacoma, Washington; and Lance Whitlock of Ocean City, Maryland; two nieces, Jackie Patterson and husband David of Canyon and Frankie Soderberg and husband Chuck of Escondido, California; a great niece, Marcy Cropper, and a great grand nephew, James Wilson, both of Fort Worth; two great granddaughters, Shelby and Morgan Whitlock of Kansas City; a sister-in-law, Lucille Garrison of Escondido, California; and a host of friends.
Visitation was held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, December 15, 2004, at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., Amarillo, Texas.
