Graveside services for Edward Richard Ledbetter, age 94, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2005, in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Rev. Bryan Knowles, Pastor of Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mr. Ledbetter died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in Clarendon. He was born October 15, 1910, in Weber Falls, Oklahoma, and came to Donley County in 1945. He married Nora Jewell Hulsey on April 9, 1936. He had been involved in farming and ranching his entire life prior to his retirement. He worked for Fontayne Elmore until 1955 and then for Jack C. Thomas from 1955 until the mid 1970s. His hobbies were hunting, trapping, fishing, training horses, and gardening. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Clarendon.
He was preceded in death by his wife on August 9, 1989.
Survivors include one son, Edward Wayne Ledbetter of Clarendon; one daughter, Linda Louise Anderson of Oakley, Idaho; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Honorary bearers were Dean Arnold, Dennis Thomas, Steve Reynolds, and Doyle Littlefield.
The family requests that memorials be to Medical Center Nursing Home, PO Drawer 1007, Clarendon, TX 79226-1007.
