Gilbert Riley “Speedy” Speed

Graveside services for Gilbert Riley “Speedy” Speed, age 63, were held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2005, in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley with Rev. Bryan Knowles, Pastor of the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon, officiating.  Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.

Mr. Speed died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, in Hedley.  He was born August 17, 1941, in Winnfield, Louisiana, and had been a resident of Hedley for the past 25 years.  He married Georgia Nell Robertson on December 13, 1974, at Clarendon.  He had worked as a general laborer in several places throughout his life.  He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Speed of Hedley; his mother, Gracie Speed of Belton, Texas; one half sister; and four half brothers.
