Funeral services for Tech Sgt. Scott Alan Bobbitt, age 38, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2005, in the Clarendon Church of Christ with Bright Newhouse, Church of Christ Minister from Clarendon, officiating. Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mr. Bobbitt died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, in Angel Fire, New Mexico, in an Air Force H-60 Pave Hawk helicopter crash. He was born October 18, 1966, in Memphis and grew up there. He married Kathy Lynn Gildner on October 6, 1994, in Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of the Memphis Church of Christ. He was assigned to the 58th Special Operations Wing at Kirtland AFB in New Mexico; and throughout his 20 year Air Force career, he had served in many capacities and in many friendly and hostile theaters. Those he served with commended him in various news articles for his knowledge, dedication, and abilities.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hardy and Nadine Bobbitt and Gordon Mann.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Bobbitt of Albuquerque; two sons, Tyler Bobbitt and Travis Bobbitt of Albuquerque; his parents, Emmett and Shirley Bobbitt of Lubbock; a sister, Lisa Raney and husband Chris of Lubbock; his grandmother, Irene Mann of Lubbock; his in-laws, Arthur and Dianne Kent of Michigan; and nieces and nephews, Drake Kent of Michigan, Kaytlin Raney, Maggie Raney, and Reagan Raney, all of Lubbock.
