Funeral services for Jimmy Dale Shults, age 55, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2005, in Robertson Chapel of Memories in Clarendon with Tracy Wayne Richardson, family member, officiating. Burial was held in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., in Clarendon.
Mr. Shults died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, in San Antonio. He was born October 15, 1949, to J.D. and Margie Gregory Shults in Hall County, Texas. He attended schools in Memphis and Hedley. He served in the US Army as a medic. He was an expert drilling and completion hand in the oilfield and began his career, which spanned more than 30 years, with Ford Tool Company in Perryton, Texas. He was Production Superintendent for McDay Energy Corp. at the time of his death. Mr. Shults always had a positive, can-do attitude with a happy demeanor that spilled over to all those around him. He could play almost any string instrument by ear and loved to entertain anyone who would listen. He was a cowboy at heart all of his life and had a deep love for horses, saddles, cattle, farming, a nice row of cotton, and anything else associated with that lifestyle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Cyndi Peril Shults of San Antonio; a daughter, Shana M. Shults Bailey and husband Bobby of San Antonio; three sons, James Scott Shults and wife Kasina of Odessa, Landry Keith Shults and wife Jessica of San Antonio, and J.T. Shults of Greenwood, Texas; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Parker of Pasadena and Teresa Shotts of Krum, Texas; a brother, Tracy Wayne Richardson of Del Rio, Texas; aunts and uncles, Jean Baten of Amarillo, Juanita Meador of Vista, California, Cleta and Tom Shults of Clarendon, Clara Hammond of Clarendon, and Ogetha Shults of Clarendon; and numerous friends and business associates.
