Graveside services for Frankie Lee Longbine, age 83, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, in Hulver Cemetery in Estelline with Rev. Bryan Knowles, Pastor of Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mr. Longbine died Sunday, September 11, 2005, in Amarillo. He was born January 4, 1922, in Parnell, Hall County, and spent most of his life in Estelline. He married Doris Sams on August 28, 1942. He worked for much of his life at the Estelline Coop Cotton Gin. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1989; a son, Terry Longbine in 1995; and a grandson, Christopher Longbine in 1976.
Survivors include three sons, Clyde Longbine of Amarillo, Monty Longbine of Estelline, and Glen Longbine of Dallas; two daughters, Wanda Smith of Clarendon and Gaynell Miller of Wichita Falls; one brother, Leslie Longbine of California; two sisters, Katie Rogers of Childress and Margaret Mendez of Amarillo; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Wesley Smith, Danny Longbine, Jerry Longbine, Crue Medina, Terry Longbine, and Ricky Furr – grandsons of Mr. Longbine.
The family request memorials be to the VA Hospital in Amarillo or the Hulver Cemetery Association.
