Funeral services for Louise Koeninger Shadle, age 101, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Garmon, Pastor, and Rev. Perry Hunsacker of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Shadle died Saturday, December 31, 2005, in Amarillo. She was born February 5, 1904, in Wise County, Texas, to Franz Joseph Koeninger and Delia Bridget Conner Koeninger. She married Thomas Marvin Shadle on May 16, 1923, in Wise County. She, her husband, and infant daughter moved to Donley County in 1925. After a brief stint of moving from one oil field to another, including Borger, they settled in Donley County where they farmed and ranched for over 60 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon.
She was preceded in death by her only son, Joseph Marvin Shadle, on August 11, 1968; her husband on August 3, 1988; and by her son-in-law, Ray Pittman, on June 17, 2005.
Survivors include one daughter, LaRue Shadle Pittman of Amarillo; two grandsons, James Dennis Shadle and wife Susie and Joe Neal Shadle and wife Raenell, all of Clarendon; two granddaughters, Cheryl Shadle Fox of Canyon and Barbara Shadle Williams of Clarendon; twelve great grandchildren; and 19 great great grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Brad Shadle, Che Shadle, Michael Shadle, Jeremy Hand, Roy Williams III, Josey Shadle, Joshua Williams, and James Christopher Williams.
