Funeral services for Thelma May Lewis Rudder, age 85, were held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2006, in Robertson Chapel of Memories with Rev. Jene Greer, assistant pastor of the St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial was held in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas, under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Rudder died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in Amarillo. She was born on March 13, 1921, to Charlie William and Enda Hollingshead Lewis in Cisco, Texas. She married Elgie Hilbert Rudder on October 16, 1937, in Dickens, Texas. She was a resident of Clarendon since 1975 before moving to Amarillo last year. She was a homemaker and worked at Bivens Pharmacy in Clarendon. She was an active volunteer for the Burton Memorial Library and Donley County Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Genealogy Club and a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarendon.
She was preceded in death by her husband on January 30, 1988; and one sister, Lou Shaffer.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Heckman and husband Louis of Montgomery, and Glenda McCullough of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one son, Bobby Rudder and wife Anita of Amarillo; one sister, Jane McClure of Shallowwater; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
