Joe Veta Sasser, 67, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at her residence. She was born October 15, 1938, in Clarendon to her parents, Woodrow Wesley & Eunice Corene Row Ashcraft.
Mrs. Sasser came to Odessa in 1975 from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and an active member of Sixth & Jackson, then later Sherwood Church of Christ. She was an avid reader, enjoyed ceramics, arts, crafts, sewing, and mostly spending time with her grandchildren. She was a very special Christian lady and was deeply loved by her family and friends.
She married Joe Henry Sasser on November 28, 1958, in Clarendon. He preceded her in death in 1996.
She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Calvin & husband Marc of Midland (their child, Sara), and Diana Franklin & husband, Ken of Odessa (their children, Brandon and Chad), her son Steve Sasser and wife, Lori of Guthri, Okla., (their children, Jaclyn & Thomas); her mother, Eunice Corene Ashcraft of Clarendon; her sisters, Nancy Watson and Judy Haire, both of Clarendon; her brother, Jimmy Ashcraft of Copperas Cove; and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2006, at Sixth & Jackson Church of Christ with Lynn Money officiating. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Marc Calvin, Ken Franklin, Brandon Franklin, Chad Franklin, Faylon Watson, and Allen Paris.
Memorials may be sent to Midland Christian School in Midland or Star Hospice of Odessa.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
