Helen Marilyn Johnson, 71, died Saturday, September 23, 2006, in Childress.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 in Robertson Chapel of Memories in Clarendon with Rev. Bryan Knowles, Retired Baptist Minister, officiating. Burial was in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Services were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Johnson was born February 9, 1935, in American Falls, Idaho, to John and Emma Bolton Alston. She was a long time resident of Brice before moving to Childress in February 2001. She married Max Carl Johnson on September 26, 1962, at Amarillo.
She had been very active in the Phi Beta Kappa sorority several years ago. She was a writer and had published a significant amount of religious poetry on the Internet as well as in the International Who’s Who in Poetry and the International Library of Poetry.
Mrs. Johnson had two books of her poetry published entitled, Seasons of Happiness and From the Heart of God. She was a homemaker and a member of a non-denominational church.
Survivors include her husband, Max of Childress; two daughters, Stephanie Collins and husband Michael of Durham, OK, Tammy Longsdon of San Antonio; one son, Steve Johnson and wife Mary Ann of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Margaret Milner of Sacramento, CA, Carol Jowel of Hereford; five brothers, Richard Alston and Dan Alston both of Plano, Virgil Alston of Park City, Utah, Steve Alston of Bedford, David Alston of Dickinson; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
