James Moffett, 61, of Panhandle died Sunday, September 24, 2006, at Amarillo.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2006, at Calvary Baptist Church in Panhandle with Brent Childers, pastor, officiating and Aaron Laverty assisting.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. at Citizens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., Amarillo, Texas.
Mr. Moffett was born in Clarendon to J.C. and Lora Mae Seaton Moffett. He graduated from Clarendon High School and attended Clarendon College. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech. Mr. Moffett taught Vocational Agriculture at McLean, Mobeetie, and Fort Elliott.
He retired in 1998 after 30 years of teaching. After his retirement, he moved to Panhandle, where he enjoyed working in the pro shop of the Panhandle Country Club.
He married Alesha Moore on May 28, 1965, at Clarendon. He was a member and Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Panhandle. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a life member of the Ag Teachers Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ona Mae Brogdon.
Survivors include his wife, Alesha; two daughters Shelia Touchstone and husband Billy, and Diane Brice and husband Jarny, both of Amarillo; one son, John Moffett and wife Alicia of Grandbury; and seven grandchildren: Ann and Bryent Touchstone, Hunter, Cooper, and Berklee Brice, and Lexi and Madison Moffett.
Memorial donations may be made to the Texas Ag Teachers Association or the Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center.
