Madelyn Amey Jones-Hicks, 89, died Sunday, October 15, 2006, in Houston, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2006, in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Rev. Tom Garmon, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon, officiating. Memorial services were held Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at West University Methodist Church in Houston. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mrs. Jones was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and was a resident of Clarendon before moving to Houston 3 years ago. She had worked for Southwestern Public Service Company in Plainview before her retirement. She married Robert Eugene Jones, Sr., on July 2, 1936, in Amarillo. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1992. She married Olace Hicks on November 10, 1992, at Clarendon; and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2003. She was a member of the South Plains Quilting Club and the West University Methodist Church in Houston.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Sellers and husband Michael of Houston; one son, Robert Eugene Jones, Jr., and wife Donna of Leesburg, Virginia; 4 grandchildren, Alicia Jones Howard, Robert Eugene Jones III, Kristilyn Turner, and Holly Scott; and 6 great grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to the Donley County Senior Citizens Association in Clarendon.
