Sara Jo “GeeGee” Tunnell Mosley Walker, 90, died on Wednesday, October 24, 2007.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel with Dr. J. Pat Kennedy officiating. Burial followed at the Rowe Cemetery in Hedley. Arrangements were by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Mrs. Walker was born September 9, 1917, in Wylie to Sanford Perry and Bessie Jane Tunnell. She married Winfield Leonard “Rooster” Mosley on January 19, 1935, in Clarendon. He passed away in 1975. She and Winfield farmed in the Hedley area and owned several cafes over the years. She also worked as a sales person in Memphis and later at Lewis Hallmark Store in Amarillo. She moved to Amarillo in 1978. She married Lindsey Walker of Amarillo on April 3, 1982. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Churchin Amarillo at the time of her death. She moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2006. She was known by all her grandchildren, as well as many others, as “GeeGee”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Winfield Mosley in 1975, and her husband Lindsey Walker in 1987; one daughter Jane Angeline Mosley Smith Kerr in 2001 and one son Russell Winfield “Rusty” Mosley in 2006. She was also preceded in death by two infant grandsons, Montye Leonard Smith and Russell Winfield Mosley, Jr., one sister, and two brothers.
She is survived by one sister, Maxine Johnson of Palmer, TX; a daughter-in-law Connie Mosley of Mineral Wells, TX; granddaughters Sara Ussery and husband David of Franklin, TN, and Susan Abshire and husband Scott of Raleigh, NC; two grandsons Michael Smith of Corona Del Mar, CA, and Joe Glenn Smith and wife Pam of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren Jennifer Hoover and husband Jake of Columbia, TN, Ryan Ussery of Franklin, TN, Deric Vacca of Wilmington, NC, Derin Vacca of Raleigh, NC, Nicole Smith of Las Vegas, NV, Olivia Smith of Corona Del Mar, CA; step-grandchildren Michel Stewart of Amarillo, T.J. Chenault of Possum Kingdom Lake, TX; step-great-grandchildren Michael Abshire of Raleigh, NC and Makensie Stewart and Cheynne Ellison of Amarillo; one great-great-granddaughter, Madison Hoover of Columbia, TN. She is also survived by many, many wonderful friends who loved her dearly.
