Helen Boswell Phelps

Helen Boswell Phelps, age 90, died Friday, December 7, 2007, at Clarendon.

Graveside services were at 9:30 am on Monday, December 10, 2007, in the Fairview Cemetery Chapel in Memphis with Rev. Lance Wood, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Clarendon, and Rev. Darrell Burton, officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with arrangements by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.

Mrs. Phelps was born August 20, 1917, in Memphis to Fred Houston and Alla Elizabeth King Boswell. She married William Harold Phelps on November 28, 1965, in Memphis. She was a social worker for the Texas Department of Human Resources prior to her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarendon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on February 7, 2000; her parents; a niece, Elizabeth Holyfield; one sister, Geraldine Bralley; and two brothers, Ben and Harry Boswell.

She is survived by a nephew, Joe Bob Bralley and wife Rue of Amarillo; a sister, Dorothy Jones of San Bernardino, Calif.; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Breedlove of Clarendon, Vernelle Phelps of Terrell, Mildred Hayes of Panama City, Florida, and Frances Lloyd of Rockhill, S. Carolina; and a special friend, Carol Braddock of Clarendon.

The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Clarendon.
