Lorene Pickering, 78, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Clarendon.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, in the First Assembly of God in Clarendon with Rev. Matthew Stidham, pastor, officiating and Chuck Robertson, assisting. Burial was held at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Services were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Lorene was born May 31, 1929, to Archie Lunsford and Zady Sutterfield Childress in Clarksville. She married Ellis Pickering, Jr., on January 7, 1947, in Memphis. She had been a resident of Memphis before moving to Clarendon in 1994. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband on November 22, 1996; her parents; a sister, Maudine Stephens; and a brother, Elmer Childress.
Survivors include two daughters, Cherry Massingill and husband, Henry, of Clarendon, and Delena Lake and husband, Lloyd, of Martha, Okla.; two sisters, Pearlie McCleskey of Burkburnett, and Ruby King of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, Rhonda Howell and husband, Joe, and Kelly Massingill, all of Clarendon, Theresa Houck and husband, Rodney, of Amarillo, Donny Lake and wife, Alexi, Jeffery Lake, and Kevin Lake and wife, April, all of Martha, Okla.; seven great grandchildren, Lindsey Robertson and husband, Chuck, Abbie Massingill, Amanda Reynolds, all of Clarendon, Glen Houck and Amber Houck both of Amarillo, Angelica Lake, and Kaitlyn Lake, both of Martha, Okla.
Casket bearers were Joe Howell, Chuck Robertson, Glen Houck, Donny Lake, Jeffery Lake, and Kevin Lake.
The family requests memorials be to the Donley County Senior Citizens.
