Services for Mr. W.R. “Juicy” Herndon, 78, of Memphis, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Boles, officiating. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton, with Dr. Les Griffin, officiating. Masonic graveside rites were held in the Crosbyton Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis.
Mr. Herndon passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008, in Amarillo.
Juicy was born on July 27, 1929, in Stonewall County, to the late Mr. James Herndon and Mrs. Hester Clark Herndon. He was a graduate of O’Brien High School in O’Brien, TX. He then went on to get a college degree from Draughons Business College in Abilene, TX. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving as Corporal in the Korean Conflict. He married Geraldine “Jerry” Gandy in 1954. She preceded him in death on July 21, 1988. He moved to Memphis, TX in 1974 from Crosbyton, TX. He worked as a field man for General Telephone Company of the Southwest for 39 years. Juicy was a member of Emma Masonic Lodge #931 A.F.& A.M. in Ralls and Past Master of Crosbyton Masonic Lodge #1020 A.F.& A.M. in Crosbyton. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Memphis.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by three sons, Randall Ray Herndon of Victor, Mont.; Ronald James Herndon of Clarendon; Russell David Herndon of Amarillo; one daughter, Debra Jeanne Hill of Crosbyton; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
