Ruth Geneva Wallace Mills, 94, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, in Clarendon.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories in Clarendon with Rev. Merwin Turner, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial was held at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Services were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Ruth was born November 1, 1913, in Muncie, Indiana, to Raymond Wallace and Candice Mansfield Mills. She married Melville Mills on June 14, 1936, at Wichita Falls. Ruth moved to Amarillo in 1943 and was employed by Boys Ranch before working at Bivins Public Library. In 1970, Ruth and her husband built a home and moved to Howardwick. Mrs. Mills was instrumental in starting the Donley County Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon and had been active in the Skelton Sunday School Class there.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melville Mills on September 16, 2005; and by all of her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one son, Ray Mills of Dallas, and one daughter, Sharon Thomas of Clarendon.
The family requests memorials be to the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon, Medical Center Nursing Home, or a favorite charity.
