Genevia Phillips died August 22, 2008, at Elk City, Okla. at the age of 65.
Services were held Tuesday, August 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Whinery-Savage Chapel, officiated by Daryle Perry. Burial was at Poarch Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
Genevia was born April 3, 1943, in Plainview to Louanna and Alvin Thomas Cargill. She grew up and attended school in Plainview. She started her family in Plainview before moving to Oklahoma in the late 70s. Genevia returned to Dimmit, where she cared for her mother and raised her youngest child, Chris. In December of 2007 ill health forced her to move back to Carter with her son, Rick, and his wife Pam. She enjoyed crocheting, fixing hair and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles Cargill, Jimmy Dewayne and Robert Cargill; and one son-in-law Burke Inman.
She is survived by her three children, Rick Phillips and wife, Pam, of Carter, OK, Judy Inman, Clarendon, Chris Phillips, Plainview; eight grandchildren: Laurie Simpson, Jennifer Cartwright, Melissa Simpson, Jerry Inman, Stacie Murillo, Laura Shelley, Jirrie Phillips, and Krissy Phillips; 10 great granchilren; one brother, Fred Cargill, of Tulia; two sisters, Elizabeth Bench, Plainview, and Gwen Sears, Clarendon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
