Travis Wade Wilson, 73, died Saturday, October 11, 2008, in Clarendon.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2008, in Robertson Chapel of Memories, with Mark Wilson, son, officiating. Burial followed at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Services were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mr. Wilson was born June 8, 1935, in Wellington to Wade and Archie McCarver Wilson and was a resident of Amarillo before moving to Clarendon in 1976. He worked in the automobile dealership business much of his life and then later as a prison guard before his retirement. He married Mable Dean Brock Porter on June 15, 1985, at Clarendon. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarendon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Frankie Patterson.
Survivors include his wife, Mable Dean Wilson of Clarendon; four daughters, Kim Leffew and husband Kelby of Amarillo, Kristi Ticer and husband Kerry of Corpus Christi, Kathy Wilson of Corpus Christi, Jennie Owens and husband B.J. of Clarendon; two sons, Mark Wilson and wife Rhonda of San Antonio, Wade Porter and wife Kim of Amarillo; a sister, Linda Carruth and husband Dennis of McAllen; a brother, Preston Wilson; 10 grandchildren, Zac, Trevor, Jacey, Jarret, Heath, Kevin, Mandy, Hillary, Will, and Nan; and three great grandchildren, Ryan, Kaitlyn, and Hope.
Memorials may be made to the VA Medical Center in Amarillo.
