Clyde Vernon Moore, 91, of Howardwick, formerly of Amarillo, died January 3, 2009.
Services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009, at the Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Rev. David Stout, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Howardwick, officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Clyde was born on February 25, 1917, in San Jon, New Mexico, to Gus and Eva Moore, being the fourth born of nine children, six brothers and two sisters. Clyde, a genuine cowboy, worked on the Moore homestead in San Jon and several ranches in New Mexico and Texas. He was a truck driver for many years for Graham Plow Company and later drove for Jack B. Kelly, retiring as the night watchman. Clyde loved horses and managed the Will Rogers Range Riders, taking care of the horses and grounds.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sibyl Garrett Moore, and a son, Arnold Wayne Moore, his parents, brothers, and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lillie Mae Moore, his daughter Carol Thomas and husband Tommy Joe Thomas of Amarillo; five grandchildren: Steve Thomas and wife Kristi Thomas, Rae Robertson and husband Robert Robertson, David Thomas and wife Bridgett Thomas, Stacey Parkhurst and husband Jeremy Parkhurtst, all of Amarillo, and Kirt Mathes and wife Mellisa Mathes of LaGrange, Georgia; fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the First Baptist Church of Howardwick, 235 Rick Husband Boulevard, Howardwick, Texas 79226.
