Lottie Maye “Dot” Pointer, 89, died Tuesday, August 7, 2009, in Clarendon.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2009, in the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Terry Lowe, Pastor, officiating. Burial followed at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Services were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mrs. Pointer was born Feb. 9, 1920, to Mary and Clem Holland in Donley County. She married James Sidney “Sid” Pointer on February 6, 1947 in Gulfport, Mississippi. For many years, Dot and Sid ran the grocery store in Lelia Lake until Sid’s death in 1968. She later was a dorm parent for many years at Clarendon College. Dot was a kind and loving lady in all that she did. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and in her later years, sending and receiving emails.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include her son, Steve Pointer and daughter-in-law Julie Pointer; one granddaughter, Keeli Garza and her husband Joe; two grandsons, Clay and Koby Pointer and numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be to First United Methodist Church in Clarendon.
