Officials at Clarendon High School have announced the top students for the Class of 2010.
This year’s Valedictorian is Phonpaseuth Tony Sisomsouk with a GPA of 96.65. Tony is the son of Malaithong Sisomsouk and the late Sisai Sisomsouk.
Tony has received many academic awards while at CHS. He has received Honor C’s in Pre-AP Geometry, World Geography, Integrated Physics and Chemistry, Introduction to Agricultural Science, AP World History, Algebra 2, Pre-calculus, AP US History, English 3, Spanish 2, Journalism, Concurrent Government, and AP Economics. He has also been the Top Student in English and Math.
Tony has also been very involved in academic contests. In 2008 Tony placed 4th in District Number Sense, Spelling and Computer Science. In 2009 he placed 5th in Computer Science, was a member of the 2nd place Number Sense Team, and advanced to regional as a member of the 1st place Spelling Team. This year Tony place 6th in district Spelling, advanced to regional and state as a member of the 1st place district and regional Spelling Team. Tony was also a member of a state qualifying Junior Historian Performance in 2007.
Tony’s hobbies include playing video games, spending time with friends, writing and watching television and movies.
He has been involved in serving his community through highway cleanup and volunteer work at the Saints’ Roost Museum, the Clarendon nursing home, and the Donley County Senior Citizens Center.
This year’s Salutatorian is Brandi Mays, daughter of Lori Mays. Brandi has a GPA of 95.96.
Brandi has been the recipient of many academic awards. She has received Honor C’s AP English III and AP Art History. She has also been named the Top Academic Student in the Foreign Language Department. She has been a member of the Honor Roll for four years and a member of the National Honor Society her junior and senior year. She has also received the Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence.
Brandi has also been a member of the Bronco Band for four years. She was a member of the District Champion Lady Bronco Softball team for four years and received all district honors. Brandi has also served her student body as Student Council President.
Brandi’s hobbies include playing softball, riding her bike, walking her two huskies, sketching or doing arts and crafts, collecting “Now” CDs, collecting swords and knives, and collecting shot glasses from different cities.
Brandi has also given back to her community through highway cleanup, volunteering at the Senior Citizens and working with the Panhandle Community Services Food Bank.
