Billy Thomas Jones

Billy Thomas Jones, 81, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, in Amarillo.

Services were held Friday, April 8, in the Groom Church of Christ in Groom with Dr. David Bonner, officiating. Interment was held at Jericho Cemetery in Jericho. Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.

Mr. Jones was born on November 2, 1929, in Leedey, Oklahoma to Thomas Ernest & Lela Johnson Jones. He married Virginia Gillham on August 25, 1948, in Amarillo. He had been a resident of Jericho since 1948. He was a farmer and a preacher. He preached at 4 congregations including Franklin Street Church of Christ in Borger,
Kentucky Avenue Church of Christ in Pampa, Olson Park Church of Christ in Amarillo, and Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Amarillo where he was recently a member.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Herschel Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Jones of Jericho; two sons, Kerry Jones and wife Kathy of Lubbock and Koy Jones of The Colony; a daughter, Dr. Kathryn Jones Montross and husband Dr. James of Humble; a brother, Bobby Jones of Groom; 6 grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
