Johnny Gaines (right) played in the Greater West Texas Baseball Coaches Association all-star game this past Sunday at Lubbock Cooper Field. Clarendon coach Brad Elam (left) was selected to be coach on the North side, and Johnny was chosen to play. The teams were made up of the best 1A-2A players in the region. We won the game 13-1 and played nine innings. Gaines started at shortstop and also played second base. He made several plays in the field including ranging deep down the right field line to catch a flyball that had the stadium buzzing. He reached base two times and scored a run in three at bat.
