Sue Ellen Howard, 61, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011, in Dallas.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011, at the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon with Rev. Bill Hodges, Rev. Larry Capranica, and Rev. Anthony Knowles officiating. Burial followed at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Services were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Sue Ellen Howard was born August 23, 1950, in Albuquerque to Walter Albert and Letha Evelyn Culepepper Derr. She married George W. Howard, III, on November 29, 1968, in Vista, Calif. Moving to Clarendon in 1975,
Sue along with her family owned and operated the Bronco Drive-in for eight years and she also served as City Secretary for 13 years. She enjoyed the opportunity to travel, read, and garden but most of all, Grandma Sue loved her grandbabies.
She volunteered her time for the Donley County Senior Citizens and was a member of the 1st Church of the Nazarene in Clarendon.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, George Howard; five sons, Derek Howard and wife Robyn of Ardmore, Okla., Buddy Howard and wife Anna of Clarendon, Donny Howard and wife Markeeta of Clarendon, and Mark Howard and wife Megan of Hedley, and Jared Moore of Clarendon; her sister, Kay Williams and husband Fred of Reno, Nev.; two brothers, Ray Derr and wife Sara of New Bern, N.C., and Kenneth Derr of Oceanside, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren, Michael, Shelbi, Mason, Sierra, Jacob, Kylee Jo, Harrison, Kynna, Maloree, Ronan, Hudson, Hayden, and Jayton, and one on the way.
