J.D. Jones, Jr., 81, died on Monday, March 19, 2012 in Amarillo, Texas

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, in the Robertson Funeral Directors Saints Roost Chapel in Clarendon with Bright Newhouse, officiating.

Burial was in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with arrangements by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon

J.D. Jones, Jr. lost his courageous battle with cancer on March 19, 2012. Mr. Jones was born September 26, 1930, to John Dalton and ErmaLee Jones. He was their only child. He married Nelda Lee Harrison on December 14, 1948 in Childress. J.D. served as Dallam Country constable for many years. In 1996, he retired from XIT Rural Telephone in Dalhart. He and Nelda then moved to Amarillo to enjoy their retirement.

He was survived by his wife of 63 years, Nelda Harrison Jones of their Amarillo home; two children: Michael Wayne Jones and wife Jamie of Dalhart, and Karen Jones Cozart of Amarillo; grandchildren: Tessa Foster Waddell and husband Scott of Claude, Jeremy Jones and wife Kelly of Dalhart, Shawn Jones and Christine Jones, both of Helper, UT, Samantha Hopper of Lubbock, and Ramey Cozart of Guymon. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family suggests donations to BSA Hospice or Golden Spread Charities.
