The Clarendon Broncos racked up 53 points in the ten-team field of the District track meet held April 3-4. The top four finishers in each event earned the right to move on to the Area meet that will be held April 11 in Abernathy.
The 400-meter relay, run by Devonte Hardaway, Wes Williams, Charleston Harris, and Corey Barker, finished third at 46.58 and will advance.
Williams also qualified in the 100-meter dash and long jump. Adam Topper advanced in the shot put, Trajen Johnson will move on in the high jump, and Diego Santos will pole vault at the Area meet.
Overall results: 100-meter: Williams 2nd 11.26; 800-meter run: Gage Nelson 5th 2:13.42; long jump: Williams 2nd 22’6½”; shot put: Topper 4th 38’11¾”; discus: Rowdy Speed 5th 112’8″; high jump: Johnson 4th 5’8″; pole vault: Santos 3rd 10’6″.
The junior varsity Broncos also participated in the meet and finished fifth as a team with 50 points. Those participating in the JV division do not get to advance to the Area meet.
Individual results: 100-meter dash: Charles Mason 2nd 11.68; 200-meter dash: Cedric McCampbell 3rd 25.88, Lee Buckhaults 4th 26.11; 400-meter dash: Jordan Stone 5th 1:02.39; 800-meter run: Stone 2nd 2:23.28, Zach Cornell 4th 2:26.77; 800-meter relay: 5th 1:44.69 Brandon Miller, Cornell, McCampbell, and Mason; long jump: Mason 2nd 19’3¼, Miller 6th 17’5″; triple jump: McCampbell 6th 34’4″; high jump: Mason 4th.
