The Broncos led the entire game against the Claude Mustangs and held on to take a 35-29 win as they continue on with their district schedule. The Broncos fought hard to get the win, and Adam Topper finished in double figures with 10 points to lead the Broncos in the win.
The Broncos led the first quarter by seven points and both teams racked up seven points each in the next period to maintain the seven-point spread. After the break, the Broncos found a rhythm offensively and pulled away from the Mustangs. Claude was able to cut the lead after that, but was unable to overtake the Broncos.
Coach Brandt Lockhart was pleased with the outcome and his team’s overall play.
“I thought we came out and played really hard,” Lockhart said. “Both teams did not shoot the ball well and got into foul trouble. We were able to right things down the stretch to get the win. Our bench had some key minutes during the game.”
Trajen Johnson finished with seven points and went three for three from the bonus line.
Scoring: Topper 10, Johnson 7, Charles Mason 6, Diego Santos 5, Cole Ward 4, and Chance McAnear 3.
The Broncos will travel to White Deer Friday, February 1 and play Panhandle at home on Tuesday, February 5, at 8:00 p.m.
