The Kress Kangaroos defeated the Owls 52-43 on January 8, 2013. The Kangaroos used their speed, ball handling skills, and excellent shooting to win a really good, hard fought game that provided excellent entertainment to the fans. The Owls’ improved dramatically from their first game against Kress, losing that game by 60 plus points.
Wyatt Wheatly once again led the Owls scorers with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Bryan Evans added 14 points and 4 boards, while his brother Brandon Evans contributed 6 points and a board. Coltin Kingston returned from a football injury and made his first appearance of the season. He added a respectable 7 points and 3 rebounds.
Valley High School used their overall team speed and aggressive style to beat the Owls 58-38 on January 11. Their aggressive defense resulted in many Owl turnovers, resulting in a 20 point victory. Wyatt Wheatly scored 14 points and garnered 6 boards. Bryan Evans added 10 boards and 4 rebounds, while Brandon Evans scored 7 pointed and had one rebound. Colton Kingston added 5 points and was a beast on the boards, with 12. Rooster Moore scored 2 points and added 3 boards.
To date, Wyatt Wheatly leads the Owls in scoring with 38 points, followed closely by Bryan Evans with 34 points. Brandon Evans has contributed 29 points. In rebounding, Wyatt Wheatly leads the team with 24 boards, followed by Colton Kingston who has 15, and Rooster Moore with 12.
Hedley’s next game is January 15 at 6:30 p.m., when they host Mclean. They then travel to Groom on the 18th of January, for a 6:30 p.m. game. They return home on the 22nd of January for a game against Silverton.
