Clarendon High School athletes Audrey Shelton, Sarah Luttrell, McKayla Cartwright each brought home a first place finish in their respective events in the Tulia Hornet Relays last week.
Shelton posted a first-place finish in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:46.99, Luttrell stormed the field in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.39, and Cartwright out threw her opponents in the discus with a winning toss of 104’6″.
Luttrell also took second in the 200-meter at 28.41, and Shelton was second in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:31.99. Cartwright was also second in the shot put with a distance of 33’5 ¾”. The team finished third with 85.5 total points.
Other results: 100-meter dash: Amelia Weatherton 4th 13.68; 200-meter dash: Glory Bryley 6th 29.10; 400-meter dash: Abby Johnson 3rd 1:06.44; 100-meter hurdles: Jentry Shadle 2nd 17.56, Amanda Powell 4th 17.70; 300-meter hurdles: Powell 3rd 51.70; long jump: Luttrell 4th 14’5″; and high jump: Powell 5th 4’6″.
The Bronco track team competed in the Tulia Hornet Relays last week and finished in fifth place with 48 total points. Trajen Johnson walked away with the only first place finish for the Broncos. He won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.40.
Individual results: 100-meter dash: Corey Barker 1st 11.59, Charles Mason 4th 11.96; long jump: Mason 3rd 19’ ½”; shot put: Adam Topper 2nd 40’2 ½”; discus: Rowdy Speed 4th 110’3″; pole vault: Jonah Sell 2nd 9’0″. Caleb Cobb ran a good 800-meter dash and finished first with a time of 2:19.90 for the junior varsity Broncos.
