Alice Margaret Hartzog Johnson, 98, died Friday, June 7, 2013, in Clarendon.
Services were held June 11, 2013, in the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon with Rev. Charlie Floyd and Rev. Larry Capranica, pastor, officiating.
Interment followed at Citizens Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Alice Johnson was born June 20, 1914, in Sweetwater, Texas, to Abner Carl and Harriet Moreman Hartzog. She married John C. Johnson on June 16, 1929, in Clarendon. Alice had been a housewife and helped with many jobs on the family farm. She loved sewing and was well known for her abilities as a seamstress. She loved gardening, cooking for family meals, and was not afraid to be the family disciplinarian. She loved Jesus and her church, and she had served as the treasurer for the Brice Baptist Church for many years.
After moving to Clarendon from the farm house in 2000, Alice became a charter member of the Community Fellowship Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John C. Johnson; a brother, Harry Hartzog; and two sisters Juanita Wood and Ruth Perkins.
She is survived by her son, Max Johnson of Childress, Texas; two daughters, Bobbye Johnson of Clarendon, Judy Fincher of Mead, Oklahoma; two brothers; Lew Hartzog of Silver City, New Mexico, Carl Hartzog of Ft. Worth, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
