The Clarendon Broncos opened their basketball season at home last Tuesday night against Quanah and after a tough battle, won 46-38.
After playing their opponent to a 12-12 tie after one, the Broncos stepped out and executed their offence and racked up a six-point lead at the break. They were able to control the tempo of the game and they settled into a rhythm to get the win. JoJo Cartwright led the Broncos on the scoreboard with nine points. Head coach Brandt Lockhart was pleased with the Broncos’ play in their first game of the season. “We came out and played a good third quarter to stretch the lead,” Lockhart said. “It was a good first game, but we still need to improve each week. I was pleased with our effort.”
Also scoring: Chance McAnear 8, Charles Mason 7, Cedrick McCampbell 5, Chance Lockhart 5, Chesson Sims 4, Jr. Ceniceros 4, and Ashton Smith 4.
The Broncos will travel to Groom Tuesday, December 3, to take on the Tigers at 7:30 pm. They will participate in the Miami Tournament December 5-7.
